Filled with new hopes and dreams and visions.

There's something freeing about not following through with the proverbial new year's resolution. That's not to say that there aren't a few tasks or changes I wish to make happen for myself at some point this year.

The way I see it... it should be enough to harbor a strong personal desire to change or make good. To work harder or smarter in order to bring about success. To wake each day feeling a sense of accomplishment from within, or to put into action the plans for a healthier lifestyle. Isn't it more about what we think and feel as individuals and not simply something we do just because the calender starts on a new year.

Granted, for some it just seems easier to look at January 1st, as a starting point and then to move forward from there. For me, I try each day to open my eyes and see things new. If and when I fall from grace I hope that the dawn will allow me the opportunity to make new on my journey of putting one foot in front of the other, per-say. There are many ways we all view the chance for change, or growth. For some it's all about making that happen on January the first. For me, I'd like to think it could happen any of the 356 days this year may gift us with.

I like these sayings noted below. They have stuck with me for many years, some which were tough. They speak more to me of what we all are capable of being and doing, every day of our lives and not just on January first.

"Fall down seven times, get up eight." and "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time."
and my all time fav... "Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you."

Everyone. Go out there and make each day the best day ever. Be safe. Be well. Keep creating.

"The art of living... is neither careless drifting on the one hand nor fearful clinging to the past with the other. It consists in being sensitive to each moment, in regarding it as utterly new and unique, in having the mind open and wholly receptive."

I was born with the desire to create and cannot recall in the years past when I was not making art in some way or another. While my choice of medium tends to change along with my interests, for the moment I am venting my desires through the creation of limited edition jewelry.

I have some formal training in pottery, drawing and painting, and textile work... though I would have to argue that most of what I know and practice today is self taught. I would consider myself moderate in talent when it comes to fine art and I am thankful for the basics which it taught me regarding it's history, equation and balance, texture and color theory. I house a small collection of books on art, technique, nature, and photography which seem to provide an endless source of inspiration for me when ever there is a need to be inspired. Note the themes in some of my collections...

I pride myself on trying to remain open to new ideas, materials, and techniques when it comes to my art works and crafting and while I have the use of my eyes, my hands, and my mind... will forever be creating something new.

Hiii! Alex's friend Sarah here, just saying hello. I LOVE all your jewelry and all the colors in it. I've played with making jewelry a bit but it's definitely not my medium. I still like making fimo beads and making simple beaded earrings though! It was great to meet you at Alex and Erin's show. :)
